The pretty village of Horning is over an hours drive by day boat from the boatyard, and well worth a visit.

There are 3 pubs in the village, The Swan, The New Inn and The Ferry – all have moorings and welcome dayboats.
Moor on the other side of the river and you can tread the duckboards to visit Cockshoot Broad. The Norfolk Wildlife Trust manages this rather magical site of special scientific interest.
Once out of the village of Horning you encounter the reed beds and big open skies that Norfolk is renowned for.
St Benets Abbey
Continue to follow the river through Horning, passed the entrance to the River Ant and you’ll see the iconic St Bennets Abbey. This ruin is probably the most photographed building in the Norfolk Broads. It dates back to the 9th Century. You can almost feel the history as you walk around. #Top Tip You are likely to spot a Heron or possibly even a kingfisher. Grebes are also present in the Summer and keep your eyes peeled for an otter
# Top Tip Please remember to bring suitable clothing. (flat shoes, waterproofs an extra warm layer) and a drink with you. Suncream and glasses are also important on sunny days
